Fly By Dubai

Landed at the architect paradise
Emirates my vehicle of choice
Cool cameras with a cockpit view
A step ahead in the in-flight jamboree

Passport control at Dubai International airport
Did the rest of humanity find refuge here?
Stuck at the wrong end of a long queue
Better than the ‘Fast track’ that goes slow!

Dubai – found in transit.
Pit Stop at the Millennium Airport hotel
Quickly set out to see the city exhibits
Cabbie and I share a common link
Common language and a common hailing
Tales and woes of the city he inhabits

Drive by Burj Al Arab
Rising sails in a desert drab
Tall towers a statement make
A city growing at blistering pace

A reunion with old friends
Catching up on yesterday
Thanks Dubai
You Made my Day.

A few hundred thousand hours in Jakarta

Ah finally , some chaos
A few blades of grass uneven
From 'squeaky clean' Singapore
here is a deviation.

Ah finally, some differential service
the need to bargain
for the same taxi ride.
Best rates to those who take the pains.

three hundred thousand to and fro
20,000 for a Dunkin' donut made of dough
A bundle too much in my wallet
Quickly disappears, even before I count it.

Earthquake Panic at Eleven.
Nothing felt where my feet rest
Sumatra and Singapore shaken
In Jakarta, its calm as heaven.

My sojourn to this colourful port
was a few hundred thousand hours, too short
So much to explore
Jak, I'll be back for more.

Rock ON

To those who reach for the sky,
touch the clouds and never say die
Rock ON.

To those who say it like it is
No mincing words and packaged lies
Rock ON.

To those who live life in technicolour,
No hassles, No hurdles, No panic hour
Rock ON

Bleak

cold day, cold thoughts
uncomfortable at dawn
uneasy at dusk
anxious moments, my mind is clogged
tomorrow is as vague and unclear
as the Delhi morning fog

There is this unknown fear
The sky is grey
Then, there's the warmth of the mid-day sun.
Hope, it lights up my very dark day.

Lost in Scarlett

The L.O.T gurl in a new lipstick ad
I am sure she's driving people mad
I am your newest fan,
Scarlett
Its plain to see,

Step down Kate Hudson
You are now History.

The Pope and the passage...

A passage read
The controversy spread
A meek apology
Not a clear " Sorry"

Inflare
Instigate
Fuel
Provoke

Let the war cries fade
in the din of a new crusade
To bring the people of the world
together
Put down your words
and with open arms embrace

In the end we are all one
Not defined by religion or race.

Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna

With low expectations I watched,
a movie much maligned and severely squashed,
by India's urban and rural alike.

What I saw , I liked
not bcoz it was long
but because it was bold
to tell a story that's often told,
behind closed doors and in whispered tones
KANK , never really STANK

Kudos to the director and the stars
Who braved through the script
and those hypo'critical' scars.

Keep pushing the boundaries is all I say.
India needs to grow up soon,
if not Today.
